Ms McKenzie is General Manager Operations with Plunket New Zealand in Wellington. She is a member of the Zonta Club of Wellington and was Governor of Zonta in New Zealand from 2002 to 2004 and a director of Zonta International from 2004 to 2006.

There are over 33,000 Zonta members in 67 countries who volunteer their time, talents and money to local and international service projects, as well as scholarship and award programs aimed at furthering women's education, leadership and youth development.

800 Zonta members participate in clubs throughout New Zealand. Wellington's Zonta Club offers Awards in conjunction with industry to women design graduates at Massey University and recognises emerging women scientists through the Zonta Science Award.
