PRESS STATEMENT FOR RELEASE

FILIPAINA first up and running in Mangere
Within 24 hours of the election date
announcement, Family Party Mangere candidate Galumalemana
‘Jerry’ Filipaina took the early initiative being the
first local candidate to erect his billboards.
After 11 months of dedicated campaigning, including having visited every Mangere household no less than four times with his campaign team, Mr Filipaina is confident he has laid a strong foundation for the next eight weeks of campaigning.
“This election is unique to Mangere, in that we have an opportunity to have two local MP’s by giving our electorate vote to FILIPAINA and letting Labour’s man ride in on his party list. The difference is, unlike Labour's man I was raised, school and live in Mangere, which engenders confidence in local issues being effectively represented in Parliament,” says Mr Filipaina.
Party leader Richard Lewis says their strategy is to win seats as well as campaigning for the party vote.
“Nobody has worked Mangere harder than Mr Filipaina and his team to prove he’s not just asking for the vote, he’s working for it. Our focus towards Mangere and East Coast Bays (through former MP Paul Adams) has been designed to win seats in order to remove the 5% threshold,” says Mr Lewis.
The Family Party will be holding a pre-election conference (6-weeks from polling day) on Saturday 27th September at the Metro Theatre on Massey Road, Mangere.
