Geldof shares secrets to success

Iconic entrepreneur Sir Bob Geldof will share his business and political lobbying secrets with Kiwis at a gala dinner in Auckland this November.

Sir Bob became a global household name in 1984 when he gathered pop's biggest names to release the no. 1 hit single, 'Do they know it's Christmas time'. His robust financial control ensured more than 70 per cent of the money raised went to Famine Relief.

The following year, he triumphed again by drawing a worldwide television audience of more than 1,000,000,000 people tuning into charity extravaganza, Live Aid. Again, his business savvy saw the bulk of funds raised go directly to the cause.

Since then, Sir Bob has succeeded as a media mogul, creating British television great, The Big Breakfast, and as a socio-political change maker.

Sir Bob will talk exclusively at the gala dinner being held at the Auckland SkyCity Convention Centre. He will chat candidly about his experience of working with the world's most powerful and influential people to improve the lives of millions.

The evening culminates in a charity auction. Proceeds will benefit the Manukau Community Foundation, which supports causes including projects focused on youth, English literacy, senior citizens, rape prevention and parenting programmes for migrant women.

The event is being presented by Duco Events and Sky City, with sponsorsTVNZ, AUT University, Scenario, NewsTalk ZB, The New Zealand Herald, Dominion Breweries and Matua Wines.
