There but by the grace of God
There but by the grace of God
The elderly are playing a waiting game. They patiently wait for summer as rising electricity prices and gas bottles too heavy to lift, force them to bed for warmth. They endure the aches and pains associated with lying for too long and long winter hours. They languish on operation waiting lists, hoping for improved health when they finally get their operations. They wait for the liquidators to advise if they've lost all their life savings with yet another finance company collapsing. They wait for cheaper fruit and vegetables so they can enjoy their recommended 5+ a day.
Politicians would do well to remember "There but by the grace of God go you."
"Frustrations Boil Over"
Many superannuitants are sitting in their homes with very little to do.
For any living on superannuation only, in particular those living alone, they cannot afford to do what most others take for granted.
They can't afford to visit family unless nearby, going out for dinner is a luxury, keeping a car in use is prohibitive while the cost of petrol power, food and many other commodities keep skyrocketing.
To top it off the government policy is to keep people in their own homes as long as possible.
Who as they get older can afford or manage to keep a home in good order and repair?
Grey Power is getting angry as frustrations boil over.
We need government to set up a Superannuation and Beneficiaries Commission so our income does not have to rely on the whims of whoever is in power.
