Tips for job hunters in tight economic times

Following on from the Government's announcement this week of the ReStart package aimed at New Zealanders who have recently been made redundant, Career Services has recently updated its website with an array of useful information and free advice to help New Zealanders improve their employment success in these times of increasing economic uncertainty.

The organisation offers a range of online information and advice for people looking for work during this economic downturn. 'Tips for job hunting in tight economic times' includes advice on brushing up your CV, perfecting your interview techniques, being adaptable, making the most of your networks, and keeping a positive focus.

Career Services plays a vital role in these uncertain times, says Chief Executive Lester Oakes. "Now more than ever, job hunters must be proactive and equip themselves with the best information available. Developing the skills involved in finding and applying for jobs is something that continues to benefit people throughout their working lives."

Mr Oakes says that anyone who is looking for, or thinking about, a new job at the moment can learn something from 'Tips for job hunting in tight economic times'.

"We know that job loss can affect every area of your life, and that there are many people working through the challenges that come with that at the moment. More competition in the job market also has an impact on graduates, people returning to the workforce and those who are looking for new challenges."
