Young Nats to host Int Democratic Union Conference

Young Nats to host the 2009 International Democratic Union Conference

Over 80 international youth delegates will meet at Parliament this week for the annual International Youth Democratic Union Conference (IYDU).

The New Zealand Young Nats are hosts of this year’s Council Conference, being the first time the conference has been held in the Australasia and Pacific region.

Delegates attending IYDU represent over 80 political organisations from over 50 countries. IYDU hosts seminars and conferences around the world to enable political leaders of the future to network and discuss political ideas and global issues.

Young Nationals Acting President Daniel Fielding says “It’s an honour for the Young Nats to host this event. We’re really looking forward to discussing current global issues and strengthening our international ties with delegates”.

Prime Minister John Key will be speaking tonight at the evening reception function, and other guest speakers include Members of Parliament from New Zealand and overseas.

The conference agenda includes discussion on Foreign Affairs, Economic Issues, Tiriti O Waitangi, Electoral and Constitutional Arrangements.
