UNITED NATIONS
Below are extracts from the UN DPI report of the concluding session of the General Assembly Plenary Tenth Emergency Special Session on Gaza: firstly, the summary of what the NZ
representative said: "KIRSTY GRAHAM ( New Zealand) was very concerned with the situation in Gaza and fully supported the call of resolution 1860 for a durable ceasefire. Hamas had to end its rocket attacks on Israel and Israel had to withdraw its forces from Gaza. She also deplored the attacks on United Nations buildings in the area. There were allegations of serious violations of humanitarian law and New Zealand supported the investigation of these violations. She urged both sides to renounce violence and make credible and decisive advances to achieve a durable peace."

FEATURES
The Gaza Bombshell: After failing to anticipate Hamas’s victory over Fatah in the 2006 Palestinian election, the White House cooked up yet another scandalously covert and self-defeating Middle East debacle: part Iran-contra, part Bay of Pigs. With confidential documents, corroborated by outraged former and current U.S. officials, the author reveals how President Bush, Condoleezza Rice, and Deputy National-Security Adviser Elliott Abrams backed an armed force under Fatah strongman Muhammad Dahlan, touching off a bloody civil war in Gaza and leaving Hamas stronger than ever. (Right-wing but informative)

FILM & VIDEO
Ex-Communicated tells the story of Israeli occupation in Palestine through the genre of landscape and the perspective of a camera lens. In his series of remarkable photographs, Gary Fields, a professor of communication at the University of California, San Diego takes us behind the walls, gates, and fences of this deliberately fragmented geography in revealing Palestinian life under Israeli military rule. What he shows in these images is how the forces of occupation use the landscape as an instrument of control over Palestinians and a mechanism for dispossessing them of land and property. Much of this story is untold and largely unseen. These photos convey forcefully how the process of enclosure on the landscape has ex-communicated Palestinians, immobilizing them into ever-diminishing spaces, while at the same time inspiring them into heroic acts of peaceful resistance.
