Media Statement From Express Couriers Limited In Response To Planned EPMU Industrial Action

Senior management from Express Couriers Limited (ECL) has been in negotiations with delegates from the EPMU for a combined period of six days to discuss the renewal of the Collective Employment Agreement affecting its processing, admin and finance employees.

Mark Gibson, ECL’s Chief Executive confirms that all claims had been tabled by the Union and considered by the company.

“We’re disappointed that the EPMU has chosen this course of action as we’ve always had a good relationship with them. We have offered to sit down again with them and continue negotiations.

“Like many NZ companies we have felt the contraction of the economy and we are not as profitable as we have been previously. However, we believe our offer to the Union to be fair in light of the current economic conditions”, Mark Gibson says.

ECL anticipates that normal business operations will be maintained during any industrial action.

“We look forward to reconvening with the EMPU to finalise our agreement with them.” Says Gibson.
