ACC continues to look for efficiencies
Following on from the 70 redundancies announced in June, ACC continues to review its organisation to ensure it is efficient and effective, and responsive to changing needs. Today, ACC announced a further proposal for change which would see 5 teams working in weekly compensation processing reduce to 4. The move would potentially disestablish a team of 17 staff based in the Hutt Valley.
‘This proposal is being driven by a number of factors. First, we always need to ensure that we operate in the most efficient way possible, to meet the needs of our clients. Second, the number of claims where weekly compensation is involved has actually dropped, meaning that we don’t have the same volume of work for these specialist teams to manage anymore. Also, improvements in technology have made tasks less labour intensive, meaning that staff are able to process more weekly compensation claims in the same amount of time.”
‘Lastly, we are conscious of the impact of the current recession and the expectations of the Government and the community that ACC should always deliver value for money,’ said Dr Jan White, ACC Chief Executive.
‘I would stress that at this stage this is still a proposal, and staff will have an opportunity to have their say on the proposed new structure,’ Dr White said.
Affected staff and the PSA have been advised of these proposals, as have all other ACC employees. ACC is expecting to complete the consultation process in early September, and have changes in place later in the month.
A range of assistance will be made available to staff who may need it, such as counselling.
