Ministry of Justice offer expires
The Ministry of Justice says it believes it has exhausted all options in its efforts to settle expired collective employment agreements with the PSA.
“We have today written to the PSA advising them that despite our best efforts, we believe bargaining is at an end,” says Andrew Hampton, General Manager Higher Courts.
“We would welcome the PSA to come forward with new proposals to restart talks,” he says, “but if not, there is nothing more for us to discuss.
“Our most recent offer expired at noon today.”
Mr Hampton said that more than 80 percent of staff who met or exceeded performance expectations in the previous financial year would have received a one-off payment.
“On top of that, a pay rise in 2010 would have been enjoyed by nearly 90 percent of staff,” he says.
Mr Hampton says that the Ministry’s offer was fair and affordable.
“We want to recognise the commitment and level of service provided by the vast majority of our staff. Our offer was a good one, especially in the context of the tough economic situation.”
