Top EU
negotiator to visit New Zealand
Mr
Mauro Petriccione, one of the EU's top trade
negotiators, will be in Wellington, Auckland and
Christchurch next week for trade talks with NZ. He will
speak at the upcoming European Union-New Zealand Trade
Conference on Tuesday, 23 February in
Auckland on the impact of free trade
agreement negotiations and opportunities associated for Kiwi
businesses.
Also appearing will be Trade Minister Hon Tim Groser. There will be case studies of successful EU-NZ trade and opportunities to find out more from local European representatives.
The EU is the world's largest trading bloc. It was the second largest partner of both imports and exports for NZ in 2008. That year, total trade between the EU and NZ was worth over €6/NZ$12 billion.
The EU-NZ Trade Conference is a joint initiative between the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, the Delegation of the European Union, the NZ-Europe Business Council and MFAT. The aim of the conference is to involve the business community in trade discussions and promote healthy trade relations between the regions.
