Bad Look for John Banks’ Campaign

Bad Look for John Banks’ Campaign

City Vision-Labour leader Councillor Richard Northey has said it’s a bad look for Auckland City Mayor John Banks’ media campaign apparently to be largely run out the offices of Huljich Wealth Management.

“The Securities Commission is currently enquiring into the reporting practices of Huljich Wealth Management; it is a bad look if much of John Banks’ media spin campaign is being run of their offices.”

It appears that Scott Campbell has been employed by John Banks to manage the mayoral candidate’s image and Campbell is reportedly working out of the Huljich offices. John Banks is an executive director of Huljich Wealth Management.

“John Banks campaigns on his fiscal record. Yet he is the executive director of a fund management company which is now under scrutiny for the claims it has been making to potential investors.

“He also says he promotes transparency and accountability, however he’s kept very quiet about his role in this affair.

“Media reports about issues facing Huljich Wealth Management have now been circulating for many weeks. John Banks hasn’t said anything of significance or done anything about these very serious issues.

“People campaigning for public office should hold themselves to the very highest ethical standard.

“Running your mayoral media spin campaign from offices of a company that is being investigated seems a very bad look.”
