New Chief Executive a Good Bloke

New Chief Executive a Good Bloke

Auckland City Mayor John Banks has welcomed the appointment of Mr Doug McKay to the role of Chief Executive for the new Auckland Council.

“I know Mr McKay from my rugby league days. He has strong management credentials and is someone who has always been in touch with the community.

“I regard him as a generous fellow, a good bloke who has a passion for this city.”

Mayor Banks has also paid tribute to the unsuccessful applicants.

“I have no doubt that some very talented people missed out on this opportunity. Having said that, there are many other roles to be filled at the new Auckland Council and I hope they can play a part.

“I am looking forward to working with Mr McKay in the future as we move to a Greater Auckland.”
