Statement Regarding Allegation

Against Family Member Of Taranaki Pastors

28 March 2010

Destiny management is aware of a situation involving a family member of Taranaki Pastors, Lee and Robyn Edmonds, who is currently before the court on a charge of indecency.

This incident is clearly a very sad and deeply regrettable situation and our heart goes out to all concerned, particularly the alleged victim. It is now in the hands of the courts, where it should rightly be. We understand the charge will be defended in the Taranaki District Court later this year.

While there is no formal arrangement between Open Home Foundation and Destiny Churches New Zealand, we welcome the review by CYF’s into the Taranaki foster-care arrangement.

As a church on the coalface of community we have an established track-record of openness and support for victims, offenders, whanau, police and social agencies when matters of this nature are disclosed to us.
