The Wednesday Wire with Paul Deady -
14/04/10
1220 -
Mike LeeAt the top of the show we hear from the
chairman of the Auckland Regional Council Mike Lee and ask
what's this about a giant tent on queen's wharf? I don't
know about you, but to me marquees just SCREAM class, not to
mention party. If the reports are to be believed - and when
I spoke to Mike this morning he assured me they were NOT -
it'd a drastic step back from the original plan of a 500
million dollar stadium, but is it likely to satisfy us
fickle Aucklanders? Probably. Not.
1240 -
Suzanne EdmondsAt 1240 I'll be chatting with
(above) who runs an outfit called EUFA - or Exposing
Unacceptable Financial Activities. Now, Suzanne has had some
interesting things to add to the sorry saga of Lombard
Finance. The company was liquidated in 2008 owing more than
4000 investors more than $127million. Now, the 4 former
directors - including Sir Doug Graham, the former justice
minister in the National government of the 90s face civil,
and potentially CRIMINAL cases. They've said they'll fight
them too, so expect this to stay in the news.
1320 - CounterclockwiseAt 1320
Gordon Campbell joins us for counterclockwise today, thanks
scoop! The Social development minister Paula Bennett has set
a welfare reform working group... working - and one of the
possibilities they'll be looking at is something called
unemployment insurance. Isn't that what tax is? Anyway -
they've used it in Canada - but Gordon will be on to shed a
little more light on such schemes and how or why they might
be applicable to New Zealand.
1340 - Book She
Read
And then sad day o sad day - Sally
joins us for the last installment of Book She Read. Ever.
She's off to chase her fortune amongst the hustle and bustle
of a large international metropolis. Yes, shaking free of
the shackles of Auckland, Sally will still bring us an
insightful look into the world of books, and ponder how over
the 2 years or so she's been doing the feature she's stopped
talking so much about paper, and started talking so much
about e. As in
e-readers.
