Hutt City parking wardens learn first aid

Hutt City parking wardens learn first aid

Parking wardens are often stopped on the street for directions and now in Hutt City they can offer first aid too.

All Hutt City Council’s parking wardens recently took part in a two day first aid course to become qualified first aiders.

Mayor David Ogden describes having parking wardens with first aid knowledge as a “real asset”.

“Our parking wardens are regularly asked for directions or information and they’ve become unofficial council ambassadors as they walk our streets.

“Knowing how to put someone in the recovery position or how to start CPR could be the difference between life and death and it’s great to know if wardens come across someone in need they can administer basic first aid until an ambulance arrives,” he says.
