North Now announces local board candidates for
Devonport–Takapuna and Dairy Flat

North Now, the independent North Shore/North Harbour ticket,
has announced more candidates for the local boards.
They are: Valerie Winn, an electorate agent for the Parliamentary Service, who is seeking election to the Devonport–Takapuna Local Board, and Tim Murphy, a Dairy Flat lifestyle-block owner, who is seeking election to the Dairy Flat subdivision of Rodney Local Board.
Valerie Winn lives in Castor Bay and has been active in the local community on the North Shore for more than 30 years. She is a justice of the peace and a member of the Rotary Club of Milford, and is a past president of the Lions Club of Takapuna Host.
As a committee member of Castor Bay Ratepayers’ & Residents’ Association, she is involved in the restoration of the World War II gun battery at Kennedy Park, an important part of North Shore history.
A former importer of French wine and antiques, Valerie is a past vice-president of the French– New Zealand Business Council.
She is passionate about preserving the North Shore way of life and is committed to putting the North Shore at the heart of the new super city.
Tim Murphy is a Canadian-born New Zealander who migrated to New Zealand in 1999. He has been married to Dana for 21 years and has four children.
Tim has lived in Dairy Flat for the last nine years, and enjoys his lifestyle block. His background is well rounded in the hospitality and beauty industries. He has sat on a school board and a professional industry board in Canada.
Tim has been self-employed for the past 15 years and knows all too well the challenges families deal with on a daily basis.
He is committed to contributing a local perspective on issues, and is passionate about preserving the lifestyle and values in the Dairy Flat community. Tim is being trained as a commercial hot air balloon pilot. Dana has returned to university and is studying for a qualification as a veterinary nurse.
