Last call for Outgames Conference presentations
You’ll need to act fast if you want to make a presentation at the 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames Conference. Keen presenters need to get in touch with conference organisers before 30 September.
Expressions of interest so far have come from people in a wide range of countries, from Fiji to the Philippines, India and even further afield, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
“We have had some really interesting proposals from people involved in grass roots activities,” says Conference Convenor BarryTaylor. “These presentations would share information and learnings about how groups come together and then do things like fight homophobia in schools, or create new ways of documenting their lives.”
Proposals so far include practical workshops and oral presentations, and come from lesbian, gay and transexual presenters.
What is required by 30 September is not the whole presentation, but a 250 word description of what sort of presentation is planned. The criteria and requirements for the different presentation options are found in the conference section of the Outgames website at www.wellingtonoutgames.com. All descriptions are to be submitted using the Expression of Interest template, available on the website. All presenters must register for the conference, and there is no financial assistance specifically available for presenters. However, a scholarship programme to help people to attend the conference will be available. Keynote speakers for the conference will come from a number of countries, and will be announced shortly. The full conference programme will be announced later in the year.
The 2nd AsiaPacific Outgames
is 8 days of sports, a human rights conference, shows and
