North Now Mourns the Passing of a Passionate Advocate and Good Friend
It is with great sadness that the North Shore/North Harbour team, North Now, heard of the passing of founding member and creator Graeme Hunt.
A prolific author and former editor of The National Business Review, Graeme is survived by his wife Saluma and two children.
Graeme was campaigning in this year’s local body elections, standing for the Auckland Council in the Albany ward, the Upper Harbour local board and also the Waitemata District Health Board.
The North Now team is absolutely devastated.
Spokesperson Christine Rankin says, “Graeme was passionate about making Auckland and local communities better.”
“He was so excited about the election and was loving the campaign. Nothing deterred him. He was absolutely relentless and focused on winning and providing a stable, passionate, articulate voice on the new Auckland Council.”
“Graeme deserves recognition for a lifetime of achievement. He was Auckland Star’s youngest business editor and a former editor of the National Business Review. He authored many books on history – including a best seller, and won several journalism awards,” says Rankin.
“Graeme was determined to make a difference in the new structure and was eagerly awaited advocating for the interests of those living in the north Shore and North Harbour areas. He had so much to give and it is a great loss to his family and to Auckland.”
We will miss him dearly and our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Saluma and his children. He was a wonderful man, full of energy and extremely intelligent and unselfishly helpful to all of us. It is a very sad day.”
