Casey-Fryer Campaign Goes Into Overdrive
While most campaigns are winding down, the campaign to re-elect Councillors Cathy Casey and Glenda Fryer to the Auckland Council has just stepped up a notch. The two sitting councillors in the Eden Albert ward have printed 35,000 full-colour Len Will Need These Two leaflets showing the three recent polls under a picture of Len Brown proclaiming “This Man will be Mayor on Saturday”.
The Councillors say they will complete 102 street meetings this Thursday and that they have found a definite shift in voter support for Len Brown in the streets of Albert Eden Roskill.
Councillor Casey says: “Len is leading the polls. There is real enthusiasm among our supporters to make sure every last single vote is squeezed out of the Albert Eden Roskill ward to re-elect Councillors Casey and Fryer to the Council and to return Len Brown as Mayor. Our Len Will Need These Two leaflet is cheeky but it is also true – Mayor Brown will need a supportive team on the new Auckland Council. We are overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of people who are volunteering to deliver them. There is an army of enthusiastic deliverers already out on the streets today posting the leaflets in letterboxes."
Councillor Fryer says "Only 34 per cent of the ward has voted as of today so this is a timely reminder to the other 66 per cent to get out and vote. Some of those who haven't voted are upset about the way the whole Supercity was set up. We say to them that the Supercity is here now, and if they want to retain community assets in public ownership then they need to vote for Len Brown, Cathy Casey and Glenda Fryer
"There are lots of people who haven’t voted who want Len Brown to be Mayor and who want Casey and Fryer to remain as their ward councillors. This leaflet is a last-minute reminder to everyone to play their part and vote to make sure that Len Brown does become their Mayor and for him to lead a centre Left Council that does include Councillor Casey and Councillor Fryer.
