Interim Chief Executive appointed to Auckland Council’s
property CCO
The appointment of an interim
chief executive to Auckland Council Property Ltd (ACPL), a
council-controlled organisation (CCO) of the Auckland
Council, has been announced today (Friday 22 October
2010).
ACPL chairman Sir John Wells said that David Rankin, currently chief executive of Auckland City Council, will be the interim chief executive of ACPL for the start-up period while the search for a permanent chief executive continues.
Sir John said: “David Rankin has the knowledge, skills and experience to lead this council-controlled organisation through its establishment phase and I am delighted he is joining the ACPL team.”
ACPL has been established as an Auckland Council subsidiary to manage a $1 billion portfolio of non-service related and commercial property owned by the council and to bring a commercial, market perspective to planning initiatives and attracting private sector collaboration to council projects. It will manage acquisition and disposal activity, manage key development projects, ensure appropriate returns on council property, and will provide strategic and expert property advice to Auckland Council on property matters.
Under an earlier fixed-term agreement with the Auckland City Council, Mr Rankin remains on the council payroll until 31 December 2010. During this period he will draw no additional salary for the ACPL role.
Chief executive appointments to four other newly-created CCOs of the Auckland Council were announced earlier this month.
