Rebstock Report Provokes Picket
AUCKLAND ACTION AGAINST POVERTY
Media Release Monday 21 February 2011
Rebstock Report Provokes
Picket
The recently formed Auckland Action Against Poverty group is organising a picket:
2.00pm Tuesday 22 February
Outside Work & Income offices, 36 Sel Peacock Dr, Henderson.
All supporters and media are welcome to attend.
‘We believe the Rebstock Welfare Working Group’s recommendations due out tomorrow represent the biggest potential attack on beneficiaries in a generation,’ says AAAP spokesperson and former Green MP Sue Bradford.
‘Our group seeks to send a clear message to Government that the fightback begins now.’
‘We want genuine job creation and a fair benefit system, not further attacks on sole parents, unemployed people, and the sick, injured and impaired.’
AAAP was set up in
late 2010 to bring together unemployed people,
beneficiaries, students, unionists, church people and others
working for a fairer society which puts the wellbeing of low
income people above the welfare of bankers and
investors.
