Unprecedented response for the 2011 Vet Bonding Scheme
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry today announced that all 30 places in the 2011 round of the Government's Voluntary Bonding Scheme for Veterinarians have been filled.
MAF is no longer accepting applications for the 2011 year but will reopen applications again in 2012.
The scheme encourages new graduates to work in practices that deal with production animals by providing a $11,000 incentive payment every year, for up to five years.
Graduates working in any practice that deals with production animals, such as dairy and beef cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry, are eligible.
The 2011 round was publicised well in advance of the round opening on 23 February, to ensure graduates could plan their applications.
