Keep It 18 To Submit On Alcohol Reform Bill
Keep It 18 is a joint campaign by ACT on Campus, Young Greens, Young Labour and Young Nationals, to oppose the raising of the alcohol purchase age.
Keep It 18 will make their Oral Submission on the Alcohol Reform Bill at Parliament in Select Committee Room 2 in Bowen House today from 5.20pm.
This will be the first ever joint submission by the youth wings of New Zealand's major political parties. This demonstrates the significance of this issue and the broad support that the campaign has from across the political spectrum.
The youth wings will make a joint presentation to the Justice and Electoral Select Committee and then be available for questions from the media afterwards.
"Banning 18 and 19-year-olds from purchasing alcohol in supermarkets and liquor stores unfairly discriminates against youth,"
"Alcohol abuse is a problem in every age group and the vast majority of responsible young people should not be punished for the actions of few irresponsible people of all ages," say Keep It 18.
Keep It 18 Oral Submission, Select Committee Room 2, Bowen House, Parliament, 5.20pm-5.40pm, Wednesday 9th March.
