Opt Out Of Government!
Today, Independent candidate for Tamaki Stephen Berry released the second part of his tax policy. It is part of the commitment he has made to fight for the freedom of taxpayers when he stands in this year’s general election.
“I am giving individuals the option to opt out of the ineffective, inefficient and unsustainable insurance scam that constitutes government services in this country. No longer will New Zealanders be forced to pay for a hip replacement that never comes or a school that cannot teach! They will be able to choose personal responsibility instead of an obligation to the unproductive!”
Stephen Berry’s second tax plan instalment will give individuals the opportunity to elect to pay 0% tax on their income in exchange for accepting that they will no longer have a claim to use most government services.
“Under this plan you can choose to pay no taxes on your income and be responsible for your own health, your own children’s education and your own retirement. You will not be able to receive any of these services from the government but you will keep 100% of the money you earn each week.”
Mr. Berry says that there are some services government should be providing. He believes the legitimate function of government is the protection of individual rights, through the maintaining of a defence force, police force and judicial system.
“Persons choosing the ‘opt out’ option will still pay for legitimate government functions through the payment of GST which I will leave at the 15% level in the first term. Government revenue from GST in 2010 was over $9 billion which is more than enough to fund these legitimate government functions. The government’s 2010 budget allocated less than $7 billion toward these operations.”
Stephen Berry has no plans to change ownership of the road system in his first term. Individuals who choose to drive on the roads will continue to pay for them through fuel excise tax, the revenue from which is used entirely on transport.
“This election I am offering a clear option to voters. Choose another candidate and continue along the same old broken path to a bankrupt government providing inferior services. Vote for me and finally be able to take back your liberty!”
