EQC welcomes CERA appointment

The Earthquake Commission (EQC) today welcomed the appointment of Roger Sutton to the position of Chief Executive of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA).

“Roger has been involved with the EQC and other agencies in Christchurch in his role as CEO of Orion Energy,” said EQC Chief Executive Ian Simpson.

“He is fully aware of the scale of the work ahead and has strong local relationships with all other contributing organisations in the Christchurch rebuild. This will allow him to make an immediate impact with CERA and we are looking forward to working closely with him and his team.”

Mr Simpson said EQC is committed to a close working relationship with CERA in the rebuilding of Christchurch and believes Mr Sutton’s appointment will advance the work already undertaken.

EQC is one of a number of organisations working with the CERA on rebuilding greater Christchurch and its surrounds, and supporting the welfare of its residents. For more information visit www.cera.govt.nz
