Local Government New Zealand Conference 2011: Future Focus

The Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) Conference 2011 will be opened tomorrow by Prime Minster Rt Hon John Key.
The two-day conference at the Wellington Convention Centre has a future focus theme and will bring together over 500 local government leaders, sector stakeholders and central government decision-makers.

Conference 2011 will discuss the role of peak oil in green growth, spatial planning and what cities need to consider for growth, digital strategies, and the ultra-fast broadband project.
Local Government Minister Rodney Hide will address the conference as will Labour’s local government spokesperson Phil Twyford.
LGNZ President Lawrence Yule says councils play a leading role in helping communities plan for the future and with so many thought-provoking speakers the conference will offer plenty of food for thought.
