ASH pleased Bill removing tobacco displays passed
Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) congratulate Associate Minister of Health Tariana Turia, the Health select committee, and Parliament for passing the Smoke-free Environments (Controls and Enforcement) Amendment Bill today.
“We are pleased to finally see the end of tobacco displays. This is big step forwards towards the government’s goal of a smokefree New Zealand by 2025,” said ASH director Ben Youdan.
“It was pleasing to see that the Bill received widespread support from Parliament. This process has been ongoing since 2007, when a petition was first presented to the Health select committee and we will continue to work towards eliminating smoking related harm in this country,” concluded Mr Youdan.
