Wellington Campaign for MMP
launched
The
Campaign for MMP in Wellington was launched today with the
celebratory unveiling of the city's first billboard in a Mt
Cook garden.
The residents of the house and Mayor Celia Wade-Brown hammered in the billboard and partook of some proportionally cut cake.
The Mayor explained that she would be voting to keep MMP in the upcoming referendum, as it is the most representative voting system available to New Zealanders.
Resident Joe Beaglehole said he was proud to have the billboard in his garden.
“MMP means every vote counts, no matter
where you live," said Mr Beaglehole.
The Campaign for
MMP has been established to mobilise public support for the
MMP electoral system leading up to the referendum on 26
November.
