Occupy Communion begins this Sunday

Press Release: Occupy Auckland Communion

22 October 2011, 7pm

Occupy Communion begins this Sunday

Occupy Auckland protesters wonít have to leave their occupation to go to communion any more.

Christian supporters of the 120 Occupy Auckland protesters will hold communion every Sunday starting tomorrow at 1:30pm.

Occupy Auckland participant and Christian Michael Brenndorfer says Jesus would have joined the occupy movement.

Jesus said the meek will inherit the Earth and challenged power structures which allowed the accumulation of the wealth in the hands of the few, he says. Communion shows solidarity with the 99% who have been neglected and downtrodden by the 1%.

Communion is a Christian symbol of peace, justice and compassion, he said.

Brenndorfer says the communion will use grape juice due to the occupations self-regulated liquor ban and will provide rice crackers for gluten free participants.
