Water New Zealand Conference: Advancing Water Reform

Advancing Water Reform is the major theme of Water New Zealand's annual conference and expo next week.

Close to 1000 delegates will discuss reform in water policy and governance, learn about leading edge water and wastewater technology, find out what's happening within the industry and maintain key networks.

The conference is the largest and broadest conference of its kind in New Zealand - with six streams that cover every aspect of the water environment and its management.

Rotorua Mayor, Kevin Winters, will officially open the event and speaker topics will include extreme events and their human impacts and societal response, Picture the Future: New Zealand Water - a scenario study on New Zealand's water sector, a look at the National Infrastructure Plan for 2011 and a forum discussion on the future face of water services.

In addition, the conference is accompanied by the largest water and wastewater trade exhibition in New Zealand.

"The expo is held for the duration of the conference and gives delegates, and trade visitors, the opportunity to meet with leading equipment manufacturers and service providers," said Water New Zealand Manager of Advocacy and Learning, Peter Whitehouse.

He said almost 150 companies take part and exhibition stands at the event are very popular.

"The Water New Zealand conference brings together a number of different themes and future focused views around the key role water plays in society."

The conference is being held at the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua on 9-11 November 2011.
