ANZCO cooks lockout pay figures
ANZCO have resorted to “cooking the figures” in the bitter CMP Rangitikei lockout, says the New Zealand Meat Workers Union.
New Zealand Meat Workers Union negotiator Roger Middlemass says workers, who face up to a 20% pay cut, are insulted by the company’s manipulation of figures.
“ANZCO is trying to convince the public that a 7c an hour increase is a 15% pay rise,” he says. “It’s surprising the company hasn’t locked out its public relations team.”
ANZCO also said today that workers face no more than a 6% pay cut.
“Our members have repeatedly said they will accept up to a 10% pay cut as long as Sir Graeme Harrison and other managers make the same sacrifice. Why would workers continue to suffer severe financial hardship if the company is really offering a 6% pay cut? It just doesn’t add up.”
Middlemass says the company’s calculations are skewed because they are based on a new roster with an additional five hours.
ANZCO locked out over 100 New Zealand Meat Workers Union (NZMWU) members from their CMP Rangitikei sheep plant on October 19.
