1 in 5 Children Go to School Hungry
1 in 5 Children Go to School Hungry
This Christchurch
Family Says
Unacceptable!
Bambini
Charitable Trust was established for one simple yet powerful
reason.
In a country as proud as New Zealand, having our
young people go to school hungry, unable to learn and focus
is just unacceptable.
In a first world country you could be forgiven for thinking that this could not possibly be a problem in New Zealand, this kind of thing happens in third world countries right? Well I am saddened to tell you that this is a problem in our country, and it is getting bigger as everyday goes by.
We cannot in good conscience continue to turn a blind eye to this growing epidemic.
The idea is simple if we look after our young people today then tomorrow’s world will be that little bit better.
There are great charities doing amazing work, but sadly demand is by far out weighing supply for what is needed.
For as little as 80 cents a day we can provide a good breakfast to a child in need. In this world that will get you nothing but when put to good use it can provide a future for our young people.
Here in Christchurch, now more than ever the call must go out to help each other and give a hand up to those that are struggling and in need. With out judgment and without stigma.
With that in mind one family in Christchurch have put their money where their mouth is.
“Priorities in this city have changed forever, we
are all changed, all different. Its time to stop pointing
fingers at each other and do something. We can’t rely on
Government alone anymore, we all have to help to rebuild
this great city and this great country, and that starts with
our young people.
It broke my heart knowing that in this
proud country 1 in 5 kids are going to school hungry. I had
to act and I wanted to try and make a difference, so
Bambini was born.”
One family deciding to act, collectively if we all do our small little bit one by one we can make a huge difference in this county.
