Britain has appointed a senior career diplomat to act as Consul General in Auckland.
Kevin Lynch has had over 25 years experience around the world including a stint as temporary Consul General in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg where the Czar and his family were executed .
Kevin, when asked about New Zealand says ,“I have always been interested in this part of the world and re-doubled my interest after Lord of the Rings. Since my arrival I have not been let down - great people, amazing scenery and a great job.”
He says that his most important focus in Auckland will be increasing the business relationship between New Zealand and Britain . “I want to be working with the Supercity to improve United Kingdom and New Zealand trade and investment .”
Kevin Lynch will also be the Deputy Governor for Pitcairn Island which he believes is Britain’s most remote inhabited territory.
“I spent three months there prior to coming to Auckland, I honestly believe getting there and staying there is one of the world’s last great adventures”.
New Zealand is the 50th country he has stepped foot in a career that has spanned Belgium, Bangladesh and Lithuania .
