EDS welcomes appointment of new Minister for the Environment

2 April 2012
Media release: EDS welcomes appointment of new Minister for the Environment
The Environmental Defence Society welcomes the appointment of Amy Adams as Minister for the Environment.

We look forward to working with Minister Adams on the range of environmental issues currently being progressed by Government.

These include the Bill setting up a regulatory framework on oil, gas and mining in our EEZ and extended Continental shelf; the review of Section 6 and 7 of the Resource Management Act; the pending report of the Land and Water Forum; changes to local government responsibility and oceans reform.

These are all big meaty issues that the Minister will need to get up to speed on quickly. We note the Minister's interest in environmental matters through her involvement in the Bluegreens.

We enjoyed a positive working relationship with the previous Minister and look forward to a constructive working relationship with Minister Adams.
