Locked out meat workers march in Te Puke

Locked out meat workers and their families from Talley’s Affco Rangiuru will march through Te Puke today, from 9am from the corner of Jellicoe and Jocelyn Street, opposite the National Bank.

The march will be followed by a family picnic from 11am at Donovan Park (opposite the old dairy factory) with sausage sizzle, food stalls, drinks and entertainment.

Speakers at the march and picnic include: Helen Kelly, president of the Council of Trade Unions and MP's Hone Harawira (Mana Party), Te Ururoa Flavell (Maori Party), Brendon Horan (NZ First) and Andrew Little (Labour).

Representatives from Talley's seven other North Island Affco meat workers will also be attending.

Workers have already held protest marches in Moerewa, Gisbourne, Wairoa, Napier and Whanganui and a community rally in Horotiu.
