American gamers donate US$20,000 to RSA

Wargaming America, host of popular online war game World of Tanks, will tomorrow morning hand over a cheque for approximately US$20,000 to the RSA.

The gaming company launched an Anzac Day charity drive this April to honour its Kiwi and Australian World of Tanks players, following the success of its Veteran’s Day charity drive in the US in November last year.

A third of the proceeds from the sale of the game’s gold packages across a three day period in April were pledged to Australian returned services charity Legacy, but in the Anzac spirit the charity chose to share half of its takings with the RSA.

Nicholas Moran, US Army Captain and Militaria Relations for Wargaming America, will present the cheque to RSA National President Don McIver at 11.15am tomorrow morning at a short presentation at Anzac House, Wellington.

Event details:

Time: 11.15am, Wednesday 20 June

Location: Gallipoli Room
Level 2
Anzac House
181 Willis Street
Wellington
