Charter Schools: what problem do they address?
Charter Schools: what problem do they address?
Soon after the 2011 General Election and as part of the Confidence-and-Supply Agreement between ACT and the National Party, the announcement was made that Charter Schools – now called "Partnership Schools" – would be introduced.
The ACT Party expressed the requirement in these words: "After 70 years of state controlled and mandated education, we have a situation where around 20% of our children left school last year unable to read or write sufficiently to fill out a job application. ACT believes that if we continue to do what we’ve always done, we will continue to get the same results that we’ve always had."
