Consultation on Proposed ACC Levy Rates
ACC’s annual levy consultation begins today.
“ACC is committed to providing comprehensive, no-fault personal injury cover for all residents and visitors to New Zealand. The Corporation is focused on reducing the incidence and severity of injury, rehabilitating injured people more effectively and delivering levy stability by achieving long-term financial sustainability,” the Chairperson of ACC, Paula Rebstock, said today.
“ACC believes that there are opportunities to reduce the levies in the work and earners accounts and to hold them at current levels in the motor vehicle account but we are keen for levy payers to satisfy themselves on the information available and to let us know if they have alternative views," Paula Rebstock said.
The consultation period will run for four weeks until 23 October 2012.
ACC sets separate levies to cover the costs of work-related personal injuries, non-work related personal injuries, and personal injuries involving moving motor vehicles on public roads. These levies are paid by employers, self-employed people, employees and motor vehicle users.
The 2013/14 levy rates ACC is proposing include:
• a 13% decrease in the average work levy, paid by employers and self-employed
• a 12% decrease in the earners’ levy, paid by everyone in the paid workforce
• no change to the average motor vehicle levy, paid by motor vehicle owners and users.

Deadline for

Paula Rebstock said that once the ACC Board has considered all the feedback it will then submit recommendations to the Minister for ACC who will make the final decision.
