Fantastic support for Fullpower at Women’s Centre Waitakere
Keeping yourself and your family safe from bullying abuse can be a difficult subject to deal with but it can be turned into a positive experience as women at Women’s Centre Waitakere recently found out. They attended a workshop led by The Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower Trust where they learnt skills to help in every day life as well as in emergencies.
As Susan Armstrong from WCW points out ”Fullpower workshops offer women a welcoming environment to learn how to assess situations and project awareness along with practical tools for staying safe. The instructors are open, honest and fun.”
The workshop needed funding so Fullpower Trust turned to the Crime Prevention Community. CPC linked the project up with the Sister’s of Saint Joseph who were happy to meet the shortfall and enable the project to go ahead.
“This was a great project to support because it is ground level stuff.” said Jeremy Andersen, Campaign Director of the Crime Prevention Community who organised the donation from Sister’s of Saint Joseph.” We could see the funding going to a tangible workshop where skills are handed on and people are positively impacted. We are very proud to have helped.”
Rona Sedman is the senior instructor who runs Teenpower sessions nationally. “It was a privilege working with this group” said Rona, “All the participants indicated they felt empowered as a result of the training. Fullpower teaches so many skills that can be used immediately and everyday. Is a real buzz to give people skills they can use with such great effect”
Fullpower and WCW would like to thank the CPC and Sister’s of Saint Joseph for their generosity and encouragement in making the workshop so successful.
