Residents invited to find out more about Council facilities
Christchurch City Council is holding a series of community forums during June and July that will give residents the opportunity to find out more information about the status of facilities in their area.
As part of its Facilities Rebuild Plan programme, the Council will hold forums across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula from next Wednesday 19 June.
General Manager Community Services Michael Aitken says the forums will include a short presentation about the Council's Facilities Rebuild Plan programme and an hour-long session where residents will have the opportunity to ask questions about local facilities.
"Residents identify with their local Council facilities and there's a strong interest in what's happening with facilities that were damaged in the earthquakes, and what their future holds.
"These forums are an important means for the Council to engage with our community, to hear residents' concerns and respond to them.
"With the future of 1600 Council facilities to consider, we still don't have answers about everything. However, it's important that as we continue to work through the repair and rebuild process residents feel well informed about the status of the facilities that are important to them."

East Christchurch forum Wednesday 19 June 6pm-7.30pm Woolston Club, 43 Hargood Street, Woolston
West Christchurch forum Wednesday 26 June 6pm-7.30pm St Mark's Church Auditorium, 150 Withells Road, Avonhead
South Christchurch forum Thursday 27 June 6pm-7.30pm: Cashmere Club, 50 Colombo Street, Somerfield
North Christchurch forum Wednesday 3 July 6pm-7.30pm Parklands Baptist Church, 180 Queenspark Drive, Parklands
Lyttelton Wednesday 10 July 6pm-7.15pm Lyttelton Club, 23 Dublin Street, Lyttelton
Akaroa Thursday 11 July 4pm-5.30pm Akaroa Sports Complex, Rue Jolie, Akaroa * Please note this is a change of date to what has already been advertised.
The Council's Facilities Rebuild Plan programme provides a framework for decision-making about the Council's 1600 facilities, which range from toilet blocks on local parks to recreation and sport centres and libraries.
