Saturday 02nd November: Vapi Kupenga charmed, entertained and informed Waatea listeners for years with her weekly talkback show, as well as being a regular contributor to its re reo Maori programmes. The Ngati Porou kuia died this week, and in tribute Kia Korero Mai on Saturday is repeating one of her last interviews with Eru Morgan done during Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori in June.
Vapi talks about her passion for te reo Maori and tikanga, and how tikanga needs to go hand in hand with te reo. While she welcomed seeing a lot of younger speakers standing on the marae, she felt many undercut their words because of a lack of tikanga and humility.

Sunday 03rd November: On Sunday on Kia Korero Mai, Eru Morgan speaks with Maori political commentator Henare Kingi on the talks now under way between Mana and Maori Party officials, the pros and cons of a potential merger, and the implications for the kaupapa Maori parties of a Labour and a Green Party coalition forming the next Government.

Korero Mai Ki Ahau a half hour features programme every Saturday and Sunday from noon, which takes an in – depth look at issues affecting te ao Maori. Totally in te reo Maori brought to you by Waatea News in association with Te Mangai Paho.

Ma Waatea ma te reo hei whakamarama
