Consultation to close on proposed place names
The New Zealand Geographic Board (NZGB) Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa today advised that only one month remains before public consultation closes for 18 name proposals for geographic features and places around Te Ika ā Māui (the North Island).
Members of the public have until 28 November 2014 to make a submission on proposals to:
Assign a new name:
• Pūkorokoro Hot Springs – to unnamed feature
known locally as ‘Miranda Hot Springs’;
•
Alter
existing official or recorded names:
• Pūkorokoro Hill
– from ‘Pukorokoro’
(recorded);

• Pūkorokoro / Miranda (locality)
– from ‘Miranda’
(recorded);
•
• Pūkorokoro Stream – from
‘Pukorokoro Stream’ (recorded);
•
• Waiotahe
(locality) – from ‘Waiotahi’
(official);
•
• Waiotahe Beach – from
‘Waiotahi Beach’ (official);
•
• Waiotahe
Beach (locality) – from ‘Waiotahi Beach’
(official);
•
• Waiotahe Estuary Scenic Reserve
