Health (Protection) Amendment Bill
Public submissions
are being invited on this bill. The closing date for
submissions is Friday, 13 February 2014.
This bill proposes amendments to the Health Act 1956 to improve the tracing of people who may have an infectious disease, or may have been exposed to one; increase the range of infectious diseases that are notifiable, and provide incremental options for the management of individuals with significant infectious diseases. The bill also proposes introducing a ban on the provision of commercial artificial UV tanning services to people under 18 years of age and seeks to make a number of administrative changes to streamline legislation including the inclusion of tuberculosis as a notifiable infectious disease under the Act and the consequent repeal of the Tuberculosis Act 1948.
