Yet another external review the last thing CYF needs
Yet another external review the last thing CYF needs
The Public Service Association (PSA) says
Minister Tolley’s announcement of a Paula Rebstock-led
review into Child, Youth and Family (CYF) is the last thing
needed by an organisation that has demonstrated it can
assess and plan for its own needs.
Richard Wagstaff, PSA national secretary, said “Bringing in external consultants to review CYF is a big mistake,”
“In 2014, CYF and the PSA collaborated on the Workload and Casework Review, a major project looking at how CYF could improve services.
“The joint CYF / PSA review proposed solutions which were supported by the Minister and extra funding was provided to support an initial increase in staff so the necessary changes could be made.
“Given CYF and PSA have demonstrated an ability to work together constructively, it is disappointing to see expensive external consultants bought in to do work that could be done internally.
“It is pleasing to see Minister Tolley recognised the dedication and hard work of CYF staff across the country.
“CYF staff are the people best placed to ensure a positive future for the organisation and the services it provides, not external consultants,” said Mr Wagstaff.
