Governor-General’s visit to China

The Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae and Lady Janine Mateparae will fly to China on 19 July for a State Visit, and return to New Zealand on 25 July. They will visit Shanghai, Beijing and Harbin, in Heilongjiang Province.

The Governor-General’s visit reciprocates President Xi Jinping’s visit to New Zealand last year and provides an opportunity to further strengthen relations between New Zealand and China.

The Governor-General’s programme will include a meetings with President Xi, Premier Li Keqiang and National People’s Congress Chairman Zhang Dejiang; a reception for New Zealand businesses in Shanghai; a State Welcome; a reception for the New Zealand community in Beijing; a business luncheon in Harbin; and meetings with local leaders in Shanghai and Heilongjiang.
