Concerned Anti-TPPA Citizens to Join Key and Groser for Lunch

Auckland citizens who are concerned that Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement negotiations may conclude within a fortnights time in Atlanta, US, will today join Prime Minister John Key and Trade Minister Tim Groser at Titirangi Golf Club for John Key’s Spring Luncheon.

“New Zealanders from diverse backgrounds, professions and political perspectives have consistently spoken out against the government signing the TPPA without the text being released, debated on, and decided upon by us the people of this country. We will be there today to remind Mr Key and Mr Groser that the majority of New Zealanders do not want to be signed up to a deal that we have no say in and which could detrimentally affect our futures.” says Chantelle Campbell, co-coordinator for todays action.

Trade ministers from the 12 countries negotiating the TPPA will meet at the end of the month to try and conclude negotiations. Key and Groser have consistently dismissed concerns that the TPPA will have negative ramifications for New Zealand, yet Key has admitted that we will see increased costs for medicines and Groser admitting that we will not be able to prevent any bans on foreign buyers if the TPPA is signed.

The luncheon will be held from 12pm – 2pm at the Titirangi Golf Club, 11 Links Road, New Lynn. Concerned citizens will be there to great Mr Key, Mr Groser and National Party supporter as they arrive.
