Overtime ban called as Colorpak offers grocery vouchers, not fair pay

People working at Colorpak’s Auckland factory are drawing the line on an effective pay freeze being demand by their bosses.

Colorpak is offering $200 grocery vouchers and shares in the company instead of a proper percentage increase on people’s wages.

The Colorpak workers will be taking a ban on overtime starting this week.

“Our members have worked hard for Colorpak all year, but the value they deliver to the company isn’t being shared with them,” says Joe Gallagher, E tū organiser for the print and packaging industry.

“We reckon the boss should show some Anzac spirit and deal fairly with the people who do the hard work keeping the company profitable.

“People who work hard to provide for their families can’t survive on grocery vouchers while the real value of their wages gets eroded by inflation.

“Colorpak should offer a decent increase, not food stamps.”

Colorpak is an Australian paper and cardboard packaging manufacturer with clients including DB Breweries, Fonterra and Independent Liquor.
