Open letter to female MPs in the house who stood up about their abuse
A National Collective of Sexual Violence Agencies TOAH-NNEST has written an open letter applauding the bravery of the representatives of the house who stood and disclosed their experience of sexual violence. TOAH-NNEST also acknowledged any victim/survivors in the house who were unable to stand and leave. “We know that not all women and men who have a history of sexual violence are in a position to speak out, but they can still be impacted by flippant comments about rapists” said Sandz Peipi, a spokeswoman for TOAH-NNEST.
“As well as celebrating the women in influential government roles who took this opportunity to disclose, we also want to honour all survivors. For those who want to speak about it, help is available.” TOAH-NNEST has over 60 member agencies around the country that support people who have experienced sexual violence and invites survivors to find help on their website:toah-nnest.org.nz
