SST slams release of convictrd sexual predator on
bail
15 November 2015
“Tighter bail
restrictions are a must & no bail for violent & sexual
offenders should be considered; Judges are paid to protect
our society & need to step up & start doing their jobs!"
Sensible Sentencing Trust’s Manawatu Spokesperson Scott Guthrie has today labelled the decision of South Island Judge Christina Cook, to release on bail, convicted Invercargill sexual predator, Richard Peseta, as ludicrous & endangering to the public.
Peseta, who on Thursday was convicted on a charge of unlawful sexual connection with a minor, after stalking his victim on Facebook, was released on bail until sentencing in January to enjoy Christmas with his family but again the judiciary seems to have forgotten the victim.
2014 saw Phillip Traynor/Phillip Smith skip the country while on bail & previously 2012 saw convicted paedophile, sexual predator & drug dealer Christopher Crause also leave the country while on bail & again January 2013 saw another convicted criminal flee to Australia while on bail which also saw, at the time, Sensible Sentencing Trust slam South Island Judge Neave for bailing him.
Scott is calling for Judges to start exercising the powers available to them when considering bail for any offenders & for a law change that denies Bail for any violent or sexual offenders or accused offenders that might just make the thugs & sexual predators think twice.
"Judges are the gate-keepers for society & politicians are our law makers so how about both parties step up & start protecting our law abiding citizens."
